Adult Education: Sunday mornings in January and February, we will be studying Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. Lewis, the Irishman probably best known for his series, “The Chronicles of Narnia,” didn’t start out his life a Christian. He was a thinker and an atheist, but his belief system evolved and he became perhaps the most influential Christian writer of the 20th century. In Mere Christianity, Lewis “sought to explain and defend the beliefs that nearly all Christians at all times hold in common” (Blurb from Christianbook). This book is a theological classic and has stood the test of time. We will explore it in depth during January and February. Please note that getting a start on reading this book before the class begins is highly recommended! Copies are available to purchase or you may find one at the church or public library. You may even have one in your own collection! For a primer on the “Common core” of Christian beliefs, Mere Christianity can’t be beat.
