Worship Information

Join us each Sunday morning at 8:30 & 11:00 a.m.

Summer hours are 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. beginning May 25, 2008

Regular worship hours resume Sunday, September 7, 2008

Traditional worship services are at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the sanctuary. Traditional hymns are sung and the Chancel Choir is part of the 11:00 a.m. service. The Junior Choir sings every second Sunday and the Liberty Bell Choir rings throughout the year. Summer services include many soloists and instrumentalists.  Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month at the 8:30 a.m. service and at certain times of the year during the second service.

Taizé service takes place on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month (September through May) at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary .  This worship tradition began many years ago in the ecumenical French monastic community called Taizé.  It is a quiet service of meditation, reflection, readings and music.  The experience finds its true meaning in the active participation of all assembled by focusing and deepening our faith through the power of prayer. Therefore, everyone is encouraged to participate as the Spirit moves them whether that be in song, prayer, or quiet meditation.  Much of our modern personal need is for entertainment. We have "busy" souls.  The liturgy that has bee developed around the Taizé community is primarily for the worship of God, but it is also meant to quiet the soul.  The quietness does not happen at once, but gradually during worship.  There is repetition in the words of the music, there are many periods of silence, and the readings are read slowly - all so that we may have a deep quiet grow in our hearts.  Then we may be still and be at peace in the presence of God. Audio Tapes   Each 11:00 a.m. worship service is recorded and available for review in the church office.  Printed copies of Rev. Jensen's sermons are available on this web site or you can request a hard copy from the church office.

Hearing Assistance The sanctuary is equipped with personal hearing devices and are available from any usher upon request.  Large print hymnals are also available in the back of the sanctuary.

Ritual of Friendship Pads are located at the end of each pew.  We ask that you sign your name when you attend worship services with us.  Accurate rolls and records of members and visitors are very helpful to our pastors and Membership Committee.

Flowers displayed on the altar each Sunday morning are given by members and friends to the glory of God and in memory or honor of loved ones or in celebration of special events.  To donate flowers, please call the church office at 333-2161.

Nursery Care is provided in the child care wing downstairs for infants and young children.  Child care is provided for the Sunday school hour at 9:30 a.m.  You may also drop your children off before the 11:00 a.m. worship or they can be taken down after the children's message in the morning worship service by childcare staff.  There is no childcare available for the 8:30 a.m. worship service.  Michele Bailey, Director of Cornerstone Child Care, coordinates the Sunday morning child care and is assisted by several child care staff members.  Summer Nursery Care is provided for the 10:00 a.m. worship service, parents may drop off their children at 9:45 a.m.
TV Ministry  The first Sunday of each month is broadcast on CTV23 at 11:00 a.m. for those unable to attend worship.

Prayer With a Personal Touch  After the 11:00 a.m. worship service, a Stephen Minister from our congregation is available in the Collins Room (off the foyer behind the choir loft) for those desiring someone to pray for a specific joy or concern.
