Seeking an Accomplished Director of Youth and Family Ministry (Full-time salaried position with benefits.) First Presbyterian Church, Meadville, Pa. We are a church that believes in the authority of Scripture. We seek to invest in ministry to reach and disciple children, youth, and their families. We have a long-term vision for this ministry and we are committed to support the person who fits. We seek to be strategic under God’s leadership. We seek someone who is confident to assert leadership, to recruit and coach volunteers to serve in this ministry. We are ready to be discipled into faithful ministry to reach young people who will build God’s church in Meadville. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Our Lord Jesus Christ ordered us to teach those who are baptized. Do you, the people of the church, promise to tell this child the good news of the gospel, to help him/her know all that Christ commands, and, by your fellowship, to strengthen his/her family ties with the household of God?
We have a completed a self-evaluation that involved the entire congregation. A priority that was identified in this process is to provide professional leadership for engaging our congregation in forming a ministry that reaches and spiritually develops children, youth and their families.
The Kind of Person We Seek
Able to give testimony and life witness of being a committed believer in Jesus Christ, having spiritual gifts relevant to leadership of this ministry, and God's affirming blessing on those ministries he or she has led in the past.
Has a record of success in developing and leading relevant ministries that have attracted new people or reinvigorated inactive members.
Is an effective communicator with a demonstrated ability to recruit volunteers into ministry and coach them for effectiveness.
Is confident and experienced enough to at times perhaps tell congregation leadership what they may not want to hear.
Has appropriate education, especially a sound knowledge of Scripture and an ability to teach effectively and apply Scriptural principles in all areas of ministry.
Has a love of worship and an ability to lead the development of worship activities that will involve more people of all ages in learning the value of regular worship.
Has led others into community ministry and service.
Is connected to various resources and networks for growing and sustaining youth and family ministries.
We are located in Northwest Pennsylvania, an area rich in resources for outdoor recreation with lakes, forests, camping areas, amusement parks, and more. We are 35 miles from Erie, 90 minutes from Pittsburgh, and two hours from Cleveland.
